[ James Wilson is, by a rule, not generally the kind of person you would be inclined to call lucky. So it is that he winds up being cursed every now and again, and today is just one of those lucky days for him. He's made a few stops himself, sitting down and finding himself having a typical first-date conversation. (Almost luckily, he has a formula for such conversations.)
By now, a day of impromptu dating has worn on him and it's time to grab a bite to eat. As such, he has a sandwich, and he's seated at a small, inviting 2-person table, in a friendly cafe just off the square. Should anyone feel so inclined, they would be most welcome to join him. Really. He has no choice but to feel that way. ]
[ooc: As it says, open to anyone~ ]

What do you recommend?

Well, nothing's too awful, but I might stay away from anything too complicated. [And spoken with an air of dramatic confidentiality;] I'm not entirely certain what world some of the meat is from.
no subject
Salad it is.
[She doesn't remember him, so her first order of business is to reach across the table to offer her hand in greeting.]
I'm Dawn.
no subject
That sounds like a solid choice.
[Of course, he accepts and shakes her hand. Fresh starts aren't exactly uncommon in The City.]
James. It's a pleasure to meet you, Dawn.

[She smiles a bit and sits back in her chair to look him over. He looks nice, attractive and nice.]
Today has been so weird, hasn't it? Have you encountered any weirdness?
no subject
[He shrugs slightly, his head tilting a bit along with the gesture.]
At least it's relatively harmless... and seasonably festive, even.

So what do you do, James?
no subject
[That gets dismissed with a shrug, as he answers the question.]
I'm a doctor. Well, an oncologist, specifically.
[ooc: So sorry for delayes~ I came down with a terrible cold and have been (and kind of still am >>) mostly out of it.]

[Her eyes narrow thoughtfully until she remembers how she knows what that is. Her mom.]
That has to do with tumors, right? So you work at the hospital here in the City?
ooc: it's okay! back-tagging is love. Feel better! ♥

[He nods, watching for a reaction. It's not unusual for it to bring up an emotional reaction in people.]
And yes, I do. Though the occurrence rate in the City is lower, so... I do more general work here.
[And because his profession is rarely an uplifting topic of conversation, it makes sense to turn the question around. Allow a way out.]
So what do you do here?
no subject
I work at City Solutions. Tony Stark's secretary -- which I know is nothing compared to helping people but believe me when I say that Mr. Stark needs all the help he can get.
no subject
Well, I don't think one job is inherently better than any other. And if he really does need all the help he can get, I'm glad that he has you to take care of it.

[Which she realized the same could be said of the scooby gang, her second job here and her first job back home. They stopped apocalypses and saved people -- or tried to.
Her chin lifts a little at that realization and she even sits up a little straighter.]
