Not surprised. Saw some very strange things in the past few relative months myself back "home". Not the way I expected my last decade to go. Now I'm here. Even more peculiar that what I was working on.

Well, having a less pedestrian experience in your own world certainly seems to help when dealing with the City. Can I ask what sort of world you come from?

World? I am originally from Sur'Kesh, the Salarian homeworld. Although haven't been back there in awhile.

Good. Maybe can help me. Need to find who to talk to in order to establish my rights to practice there. And possible see if they have an opening for a doctor as well.

I probably should have phrased that as "reality" or something along those lines. Where I'm from, the world you're born on isn't really something you can relocate off of. It's still hard to remember that's not the case for everyone.

Oh-- well, generally, they do have openings. It's a big hospital, large enough City... the gaps in personnel are filled by machines, so it seems there's always room for more. What's your specialization?

Thought so. Seemed a bit odd of choice of words. From year 2185 CE Earth Standard. Earth entered the galactic stage about 25 years ago. Earth having to deal with other civilizations.

Good to know. Genetics and xenobiology are my formal specializations. Can handle more.

Well, that's... certainly a bit ahead of my time. It was 2007 last time I was in the right dimension.

I'm sure given the array of species the City has assembled, that would come in useful. When I first arrived here, I just went in to talk to the hospital administrators, explained and exemplified my professional abilities, and that was it... I think so, at least. Honestly, this probably isn't the best time for me to be detailing my experiences. I am fairly certain it wasn't too complicated of a process, though.

Well, I certainly am now, though it doesn't seem as if the knowledge is going to make it back with me.

In that case, I'd just go down and ask at the front desk to be directed to the right place. They'll certainly be able to help.

Most people don't return to their own realities with any memory of the City or anything that occurred during their time here. I've left once and come back, and that was my experience.

Seems to be a curse, but can never be sure. Especially with the mind. Unless this place has found a way to mess it then correct it better than modern medicine has.

There are no shortage of curses that have altered memories, changed people's belief systems, and turned them into entirely different individuals who lived lives vastly different from their own. If they wanted to simply erase memories, I don't doubt they lack the ability.
